What drawing a Disney Mouse feels like

Disney Fashionista Week 1

So, who remembers the story from last week of how Barney’s are teaming with Disney to sell fashions on hideously grotesque simulacra of Minnie, Daisy & Goofy?

Anyway, Disney fans(and anyone with taste) were pretty unanimous in their disdain for these awful distortions of loved characters. I’m assuming the whole redesign is completely NOT about being faithful to the characters but simply using the Disney name to flog clothes. If that were the case, it would be perfectly valid from a business standpoint. But these aren’t the characters I love and I decided to try showing with a daily sketch on Twitter that Daisy & Minnie can rock haute couture without changing them into scarecrows or draining them of their charm & appeal.

All these fashions are real ensembles from this years’ collections. Armani, Bill Blass, Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Burberry, guest start Janice in Alexander McQueen & Diana Farkhullina.
